Challenges and Choices

‭‭Numbers‬ ‭13‬:‭30‬-‭33‬‬
Then Caleb quieted the people in the presence of Moses and said, “Let’s go up now and take possession of the land because we can certainly conquer it!” But the men who had gone up with him responded, “We can’t attack the people because they are stronger than we are!” So they gave a negative report to the Israelites about the land they had scouted: “The land we passed through to explore is one that devours its inhabitants, and all the people we saw in it are men of great size. We even saw the Nephilim there — the descendants of Anak come from the Nephilim! To ourselves we seemed like grasshoppers, and we must have seemed the same to them.”

1. God Has A Challenge
“Will you trust Me”

Numbers 13:1-2
“The LORD spoke to Moses: “Send men to scout out the land of Canaan (challenge) I am giving to the Israelites; (promise)”

Faith is - totally relying on God because you know that He won’t let you down.

God is more interested in your BELIEF than He is in your RELIEF!

2. We Have A Choice
 *FEAR

‭‭Numbers‬ ‭14‬:‭1‬-‭4‬‬
Then the whole community broke into loud cries, and the people wept that night. All the Israelites complained about Moses and Aaron, and the whole community told them, “If only we had died in the land of Egypt, or if only we had died in this wilderness! Why is the Lord bringing us into this land to die by the sword? Our wives and children will become plunder. Wouldn’t it be better for us to go back to Egypt?” So they said to one another, “Let’s appoint a leader and go back to Egypt.”

‭‭Numbers‬ ‭14‬:‭33‬‬
Your children will be shepherds in the wilderness for forty years and bear the penalty for your acts of unfaithfulness until all your corpses lie scattered in the wilderness.

‭‭Numbers‬ ‭14‬:‭28‬-‭30‬‬
Tell them: As I live — this is the Lord’s declaration — I will do to you exactly as I heard you say. Your corpses will fall in this wilderness — all of you who were registered in the census, the entire number of you twenty years old or more  — because you have complained about me. I swear that none of you will enter the land I promised to settle you in, except Caleb son of Jephunneh and Joshua son of Nun.

2. We Have A Choice
 *FEAR
*FAITH

‭‭Joshua‬ ‭2‬:‭23‬-‭24‬‬
Then the men returned, came down from the hill country, and crossed the Jordan. They went to Joshua son of Nun and reported everything that had happened to them. They told Joshua, “The Lord has handed over the entire land to us. Everyone who lives in the land is also panicking because of us.”

‭‭Joshua‬ ‭6‬:‭16‬, ‭20‬‬
After the seventh time, the priests blew the rams’ horns, and Joshua said to the troops, “Shout! For the Lord has given you the city. So the troops shouted, and the rams’ horns sounded. When they heard the blast of the ram’s horn, the troops gave a great shout, and the wall collapsed. The troops advanced into the city, each man straight ahead, and they captured the city.

God doesn’t guarantee that the journey will be easy, but He does guarantee that when you arrive at your destination, it will be the Promised Land.

"Is Science Opposed to Faith?"

‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭11‬:‭1‬-‭3‬‬
Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. This is what the ancients were commended for. By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.

1. Faith Based in REALITY. Vs. 1

2. Faith Based on HISTORY. Vs. 2

From 1901- 2000: 65% of Nobel Prize winners are professing Christians.
64% of Physics Winners
65% In Medicine Winners
74% in Chemistry Winners

If you exclude Nobel Prizes going to "Organizations" and just consider individuals:
78% are Christians
11% are Jewish
4% are atheist
2% are Buddhist
2% are Muslim
1% are Quakers
1% are Shinto
That is 96% of all Nobel Prize winners in the 20th Century are believers in God!

3. Faith Based on KNOWLEDGE. vs.3

Romans 1:20
For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities - His eternal power and divine nature - have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.

Conclusion: The reality is most people do not reject God based on science, they reject God based on the actions of His followers!

"Marriage: Created by God"

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭19‬:‭3‬-‭9‬‬
Some Pharisees approached him to test him. They asked, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife on any grounds?” “Haven’t you read,” he replied, “that he who created them in the beginning made them male and female, and he also said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’? So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore, what God has joined together, let no one separate.” “Why then,” they asked him, “did Moses command us to give divorce papers and to send her away?” He told them, “Moses permitted you to divorce your wives because of the hardness of your hearts, but it was not like that from the beginning. I tell you, whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another commits adultery.”

God Created Mankind

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭19‬:‭4‬‬
“Haven’t you read,” he replied, “that he who created them in the beginning made them male and female,

God Created Marriage

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭19‬:‭5‬-‭6‬‬
and he also said, ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’? So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore, what God has joined together, let no one separate.”

Marriage is a relationship where one man and one woman enter into a lifetime covenant before Creator God.

‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭5‬:‭25‬‬
Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself for her

‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭5‬:‭28‬‬
In the same way, husbands are to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.

‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭5‬:‭22‬-‭24‬‬
Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord, because the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church. He is the Savior of the body. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives are to submit to their husbands in everything.

‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭5‬:‭31‬-‭33‬‬
For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two will become one flesh. This mystery is profound, but I am talking about Christ and the church. To sum up, each one of you is to love his wife as himself, and the wife is to respect her husband.

Text: CONTACT to (225) 425-7773

‭‭Ecclesiastes‬ ‭3‬:‭11‬‬
He has made everything appropriate in its time. He has also put eternity in their hearts, but no one can discover the work God has done from beginning to end.

1. God created you and me to live forever.

2. God created 2 forever places.

‭‭John‬ ‭14‬:‭2‬-‭3‬‬
In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? If I go away and prepare a place for you, I will come again and take you to myself, so that where I am you may be also.

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭25‬:‭41‬‬
“Then he will also say to those on the left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels!

3. You choose your forever place.

‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭30‬:‭19‬‬
I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you today that I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse. Choose life so that you and your descendants may live,

4. You must make your choice now.

‭‭Romans‬ ‭3‬:‭23‬‬
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God;

For all have sinned

‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭2‬:‭8‬-‭9‬‬
For you are saved by grace through faith, and this is not from yourselves; it is God’s gift —  not from works, so that no one can boast.

‭‭Romans‬ ‭6‬:‭23‬‬
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

The wages/payment of sin is death

How can a sinful person enter Heaven where God allows no Sin?

‭‭Romans‬ ‭5‬:‭8‬‬
But God proves his own love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Christ died for us

‭‭Romans‬ ‭10‬:‭9‬-‭10‬, ‭13‬‬
If you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. One believes with the heart, resulting in righteousness, and one confesses with the mouth, resulting in salvation. For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.

A commitment is required
- Confess
- Believe
- Receive

How to receive Christ:
- Realize your sinfulness – (Romans 3:23)
- Realize sin’s penalty – (Romans 6:23)
- Realize what Jesus did for you – (Romans 5:8)
- Receive Jesus as your Savior & Lord – (Romans 10:9-10)

Can I Trust the Church?

7 Signs of a Trustworthy Church

‭‭Acts‬ ‭2‬:‭42‬-‭47‬‬
And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. And awe came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles. And all who believed were together and had all things in common. And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need. And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.

1) Preaching and Teaching
They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching — Acts 2:42

2) Fellowship

4) Stewardship
They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. – Acts 2:45
